Youth development service
The Youth Development Service provides Youth provisions in Rye and outlying villages to young people mostly from the age of 11 -19 using the NOMAD (a Mobile Resource Unit), various community buildings and recreation fields in villages within our catchments area. We deliver and support various projects throughout the year and run Easter and summer programmes in identified villages.
We also deliver after school sessions for 1-1 appointments as well as group based project work (arts, music and citizenship), plus one-to-one support for all students during college time. We also run lunchtime clubs for year groups
The YDS runs Youth Achievement Awards, AQA awards and Keystone Awards for young people in college. We support and deliver PHSE lessons in the form of drop down days for specific years throughout the college calendar and support the College council in various activities.
We work closely with various local and national organisations including Connexions, under 19's team, local police and Hastings and Rother PCT to deliver specific work.
We work directly with parish councils, Rye CVS and various volunteer youth organisations to deliver and support work with young people in their villages. We support these in applying for money and give training to groups that request it
